Hydraulic Vibro-Compaction
A concrete walling unit gets its strength from density. The Buildwell press achieves that by doing two things at the same moment: applying hydraulic pressure from above while vibrating the mould table beneath.
Vibration alone settles the mix but leaves voids near the top. Pressure alone compacts the top face and bridges over air lower down. Applied together, the vibration keeps the aggregate mobile while the ram closes the section, so the unit comes out uniformly dense from face to face — which is what delivers consistent compressive strength and low water absorption.
The production cycle
Fly ash, stone dust, aggregate and cement are proportioned — by hand on the semi-automatic machines, by an automatic batching system on the BW-4-14.
The pan mixer brings the batch to an even, low-slump consistency. Cycle time is matched to the press so mix is never left standing.
A trolley feeder draws mix across the mould box and fills every cavity evenly, with hopper vibration preventing bridging.
Ram pressure and table vibration compact the unit onto a steel pallet. Dwell and vibration time are set at the control panel.
Green units leave on the pallet conveyor, are stacked — automatically on the BW-130 — and water-cured before dispatch.
The Colour Face Layer
Pavers are pressed in two layers. A structural base mix gives the unit its strength; a thin pigmented face mix, laid by a separate colour mixer drum, gives it its colour and wearing surface. Pigment goes only where it is seen — which is what makes colour pavers economic to produce.
Together we can build the future of the construction industry.
